Built in 1792, The Woods House is one of Pittsburgh’s oldest surviving houses. Experience a piece of frontier-era history while enjoying our classic pub atmosphere. We take pride in preserving our heritage and sharing it with our guests.

Our menu features a variety of classic pub fare, including bangers and mash, salads, soups, fish and chips, as well as more unique options like our famous mac and cheese and scotch eggs. We also offer a wide selection of local beers on tap and full bar with a variety of cocktails and wine.

The house belonged to John Woods (1761–1816), a surveyor, lawyer, politician, and member of a prominent early Pittsburgh family. Woods completed the 1784 street plan for Pittsburgh—often called the “Woods Plan”—which established the basic layout of downtown
